Where are they now ?

Posted by sequenceblogger (admin) on October 18, 2010

On reading through our dance list one wonders as to the current whereabouts of some of the past arrangers. Many we are still in touch with, or at least hear news of indirectly, and, happily, a good number are alive and well, many still involved with dancing in one way or another. A few though we have lost touch with and not heard any news of for a long time now. So if there are any past arrangers out there, why not make a post to the Blog to let us what you’re up to now. I’m particularly interested to hear news of Winn & Bob Oliver and also Yvonne & Roger Corkery, both of whom we have heard nothing of for a long while now. So if anyone has any news, please post in.

Sadly, I heard this week that Bob Oliver died recently. I don’t have any details, as have only heard of this indirectly through web forums. As I said in my original post only a few months back, Winn & Bob are often in my thoughts, and I have wondered where and how they were for some time now. Sadly, no-one was able to supply any relevant information in response to that post – and now it is somewhat too late ! Win & Bob will be remembered as popular MC’s and successful inventive dance competitors from 1973 to 1981 – their Saunter Together remains a perennial favourite. They also arranged many other good dances (Waltz Barcorolle, Holiday Samba, Mexican Jive, Susie Jive, Rumba Romantica, and Forget-me-Not Saunter to name but a few). I particularly remember them for their vibrant Latin American dancing. RIP Bob. And sympathy and good wishes to Winn.
