Obituary: Bob Oliver

Sadly, I heard this week that Bob Oliver died recently. I don’t have any details, as have only heard of this indirectly through web forums. As I said in my original post made only a few months ago (“Where are they now ?”), Winn & Bob are often in my thoughts, and I have wondered where and how they were for some time now. Sadly, no-one was able to supply any relevant information in response to that post – and now it is somewhat too late ! Win & Bob will be remembered as popular MC’s and successful inventive dance competitors from 1973 to 1981 – their Saunter Together remains a perennial favourite. They also arranged many other good dances (Saunter D’Amour, Waltz Barcorolle, Holiday Samba, Mexican Jive, Susie Jive, Rumba Romantica, and Forget-me-Not Saunter to name but a few). I particularly remember them for their vibrant Latin American dancing. RIP Bob. And sympathy and good wishes to Winn.
